The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is a nonprofit membership association representing the interests of the volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue services in the national policy arena and on numerous national and international committees and organizations. In addition, the NVFC provides the emergency services with important advocacy, resources, tools, and information. The NVFC’s programs and initiatives address the needs of the volunteer fire and emergency services.
The NVFC launched the groundbreaking Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program in 2003 to combat the number one cause of on-duty firefighter deaths – heart attack. It is the nation’s only heart attack prevention and awareness campaign targeted at all firefighters and EMS personnel, both volunteer and career. Through health screenings, an interactive web site, a fitness challenge, resources and publications, newsletters, a Cookbook, and more, the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program aims to protect our nation’s firefighters and emergency medical personnel from heart disease so they can continue to protect our communities.
Support the NVFC and its programs, including the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, by making a contribution. Federal employees can also contribute through the Combined Federal Campaign by designating CFC #11395. Help us keep the fire and emergency services strong.
