Get FIRE FIT on February 13

Wednesday, 01 February 2012

Tune in to the February 13 episode of FIRE FIT on Firefighter Radio to learn how you can stay heart-healthy as a firefighter, with a focus on nutrition. Michelle Detwiler of L&T Health and Fitness, a partner of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and member of the NVFC’s Health and Safety Work Group, will join host Brett Hicks to discuss using exercise and nutrition as prevention strategies to protect your heart health.

With heart disease the leading cause of on-duty firefighter deaths, and many more firefighters suffering from heart-related illnesses, prevention is the best course of action. FIRE FIT is designed to help first responders focus on their health as well as learn the strategies and tactics for improving both your health and your performance as a firefighter.

February is American Heart Month, so now is the perfect time to re-invigorate your commitment to health and wellness.
