October 2-8 is Mental Illness Awareness Week

Tuesday, 04 October 2011

As you utilize the resources and tools from the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program to make sure you’re in top physical health, don’t forget to pay attention to your mental health as well. This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week, an opportunity for you and your department to focus on your mental wellbeing.

The Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program has resources to help you learn more about behavioral and mental health for first responders. Your department can also take advantage of free National Depression Screening Day online and community screenings on October 6. Observe World Mental Health Day on October 10 by distributing mental health information to your whole department.

You give your all to the fire department. Make sure you’re taking care of it all – your heart, body, and mind. Find more tools and information for your total health at www.healthy-firefighter.org.
