It's National Firefighter Health Week
|Monday, 15 August 2011|
This week is National Firefighter Health Week, a time for you and your department to focus on your health and take the steps necessary to stay strong for life. This year’s theme is “When it comes to your health, you’re always on duty.”
Each day this week has a special focus topic to help you take the steps you need to get and stay healthy. These include identifying your health risks as a first responder, creating a support system, making a health and wellness plan, putting that plan into action, and continuing a healthy lifestyle in the long term. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will be sending out a daily email throughout the week with tips and tools to help you make the most out of that day’s focus topic. If you do not currently receive emails from the NVFC or Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, click here to sign up.
The National Firefighter Health Week Resource Center contains additional tools and information, daily activity ideas, promotional materials, tips, podcasts, and more to help you and your department participate. Visit www.healthy-firefighter.org/healthweek.
The NVFC will be hosting two health and wellness webinars this week. Register to attend at https://nvfc.webex.com by clicking on Upcoming Sessions. Both webinars are free and last approximately 1 hour, but space is limited so register now!
