The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will continue to work with Ashburn Hill Corp. (AHC), maker of the patented TECGEN® fiber for personal protective apparel, to support the fire service in a variety of ways. The partnership, which was launched in 2010, focuses on the mutual goal of keeping first responders safe. Components include promoting firefighter health and safety through National Firefighter Health Week, distributing valuable resources at industry trade shows, supporting the National Junior Firefighter Program, and more.

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with AHC to further the safety and well-being of first responders across the nation,” said NVFC Executive Director Heather Schafer. “The NVFC and AHC both aim to decrease the tragedies of firefighter fatality and injury. By joining our efforts together, we have reached already reached thousands of first responders with important safety messages and will now reach even more in 2011.”

As part of the partnership, AHC will sponsor one day of National Firefighter Health Week 2011. Each August, the NVFC, through its groundbreaking Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, holds National Firefighter Health Week to encourage first responders to focus on their health and wellness and make the lifestyle changes necessary to stay strong. Each day of health week highlights a different topic of particular importance to first responders. The 2011 event will be held August 15-19. In addition, AHC will sponsor a health and safety webinar for first responders nationwide. Another component of the partnership will be to ensure visitors to the NVFC and Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program exhibit booths at industry trade shows across the nation can take home valuable resources.
