Attend a Health and Wellness Advocate Workshop this Winter
Thursday, 03 February 2011
The National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program is bringing its Health and Wellness Advocate Workshop to North Dakota, West Virginia, and Louisiana this February and March. First responders who attend the free workshop will learn how to start a sound health and fitness program within their department and motivate their fellow first responders to adopt heart-healthy behaviors.
The NVFC launched the Health and Wellness Advocate program to combat the leading cause of line-of-duty firefighter deaths - heart disease - by creating health and fitness advocates within fire/EMS departments. As Health and Wellness Advocates, participants will be equipped to encourage, motivate, and assist their fellow fire and emergency personnel to adopt heart-healthy behaviors.
The free, two-day Health and Wellness Advocate Workshop is taught by ACE-certified instructors from L&T Health and Fitness, an award-winning fitness and health management company. The workshop mixes classroom components with hands-on learning to provide participants with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed as a Health and Wellness Advocate.
Upcoming events include:
North Dakota 57th Annual State Fire School
February 25-26, 2011
Sissonville Fire & Rescue School
March 5-6, 2011
