What: National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) 5th Annual National Firefighter Health Week

Why: First responders face increased risk factors every day that may affect their physical and mental well-being. National Firefighter Health Week, developed in 2007 as part of the NVFC’s Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, is a time to focus on the importance of an all-around healthy lifestyle, which encompasses physical and mental health and safety. Each day of Health Week will be dedicated to a different health topic pertinent to the fire and emergency services. An online resource center with resources, daily activity suggestions, and other tools for each of the focus topics will be available on the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program web site.
