NVFC Announces Winter 2011 Screening and Workshop Dates
|Tuesday, 02 November 2010|
Visit the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC)’s Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program in early 2011 at one of three state fire service events. The events in Utah, Iowa, and North Dakota kick off the NVFC’s 2011 trade show season, with more to be announced soon. The NVFC will provide an interactive exhibit booth with free health screenings, as well as two workshops – one designed to train health and wellness advocates and one focused on behavioral health.
The NVFC booth includes several interactive components designed to encourage health awareness and motivate attendees to focus on their health. These include cholesterol screenings, a fitness component utilizing the Wii Fit, and information and resources for living a heart-healthy lifestyle.
New in 2011, the NVFC will offer behavioral health workshops at select state shows. The three-hour course will cover topics including alcohol abuse, time management, and personal safety behaviors. Both the Utah and Iowa shows will feature behavioral health workshop led by NVFC Director of Health and Safety Amy Tarte. More information on course times and registration will be available soon on the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program web site.
The NVFC’s upcoming schedule is as follows:
Utah Fire and Rescue Academy Winter Fire School
St. George, UT
Iowa 86th Annual State Fire School
North Dakota 57th Annual State Fire School
More trade show and workshop dates will be announced soon! Stay tuned for the full 2011 schedule in the Heart-Healthy Firefighter E-news and on the program’s web site.
