Visit the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program in North Carolina

Tuesday, 03 August 2010

The Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program will be taking its interactive trade show booth and Health and Wellness Advocate Workshop to North Carolina this month. Stop by booth #116-122 at the North Carolina State Firemen’s Association Conference on August 13-14 to receive free health screenings, take part in the Wii Fit™ fitness challenge, and get resources and information that can help you stay healthy and strong.

The Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program booth includes several interactive components designed to encourage health awareness and motivate attendees to focus on their health. Get your cholesterol screened to find out where your numbers stand in regards to this important heart disease risk factor. Face off against other first responders in a fun and energetic fitness challenge using Wii Fit. Pick up valuable resources to help you succeed in getting and staying heart-healthy.

Attendees can also take advantage of the NVFC’s Health and Wellness Advocate Workshop. This free workshop is designed to train firefighters and emergency services personnel to become advocates for health and wellness within their departments, encouraging and motivating their fellow first responders to adopt heart-healthy behaviors. The instructors teach attendees the foundations for a successful health and wellness program, the steps for establishing a program in their department, and hands-on demonstrations of exercises that can be done at the department.
