Save the Date: National Firefighter Health Week is August 16-20
|Tuesday, 05 January 2010|
Mark your calendars for the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) fourth annual National Firefighter Health Week, which will take place August 16-20. Created through the NVFC’s ground-breaking Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, National Firefighter Health Week is a week-long initiative to educate both the fire service and the public about health and wellness issues of particular concern to fire and emergency service personnel.
First responders face increased risk factors every day that may affect their physical and mental well-being. National Firefighter Health Week is a time to focus on the importance of nutrition, exercise, and making healthy lifestyle choices. Each day of Health Week is dedicated to a different health topic pertinent to the fire and emergency services. The National Firefighter Health Week Resource Center on the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program web sitefeatures resources, daily activity suggestions, and other tools for each of the focus topics.
Information about National Firefighter Health Week 2010 will be available on the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program web site in the coming months. In the meantime, visit the web site to view 2009 National Firefighter Health Week Resource Center and to find the resources you need to keep you healthy every day of the year.
