Visit the NVFC Booth at Fire Expo
|Thursday, 07 May 2009|
Are you attending Fire Expo in Harrisburg, PA, May 15-17? Remember to visit the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) at Booth S16. The booth will feature resources to benefit you and your department, including information about the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program and other key NVFC initiatives.
“Heart attack is the cause of nearly half of line-of-duty firefighter deaths. The Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program is working to reduce this alarming statistic,” said Lillian Ricardo, NVFC Health and Safety Project Coordinator. “Fire Expo gives us an excellent opportunity to meet with the grassroots fire service to provide them will the tools and resources they need to stay heart-healthy.”
Departments and individuals can also visit the NVFC booth to find out how to increase their department’s capacity through Fire Corps, find guides on retention and recruitment and vehicle safety, and learn more about the National Junior Firefighter Scholarship and Grant Program. The grant application period is now open – learn more at the NVFC booth and online at http://www.juniors.nvfc.org. The deadline for grant applications is August 15. Scholarship applications are due on May 15.
